Best Food and Beverages to Eat on the Road

If you’re looking to stay energized, alert, and productive on the road as a professional truck driver, these delicious food and beverage items can help you! Put down that red bull and bag of sugary sweets – these food and beverage choices will help you more.

Food

It is best to consume foods with natural ingredients such as protein, vitamins and the right amount of carbohydrates and fats. If you’re in need of a pick-me-up while on the road and are hankering for a snack, be sure to try some of these nutritious and tasty options:

  • Quinoa
  • Greek Yogurt (mix in your favorite fruit!)
  • Brown Rice
  • Sweet Potato
  • Fruit
  • Salmon
  • Eggs

These food items were selected not only for their nutritional value, but also for their natural ability to help you become alert while on the road. For instance, eggs provide a great amount of protein. Without protein in your system, it is easy to become fatigued and tired while driving. When you consume sugary snacks or very heavy meals with little nutritional value, your body will become exhausted and lethargic faster because your body is actually rejecting these food items.

Drink

Think of how many commercial energy drinks you can name. Quite a few, right? Although these energy drinks may claim to have pure ingredients that will provide you with natural energy, they do not compare to the energy benefits provided by the following drinks.

When driving and you need a long lasting burst of energy, try these drink choices instead:

  • Water
  • Green Tea
  • Coffee (in moderation!)
  • Fruit Smoothies (with all natural ingredients and limited sugar)
  • Protein Shakes

These drink options do not contain copious and unnecessary amounts of artificial sugar. Instead, they contain natural sugars (or no sugar at all), which will give you a long lasting burst of energy and not one that only lasts for a limited amount of time.

Use these food and beverage options when on the road as a professional truck driver and you’ll be all set! To earn your Class A CDL and become a truck driver, contact United Truck Driving School in Murfreesboro, TN today.
