4 Ways to Send Your Love on Valentine’s Day from the Road

Since truck driving is not a traditional job and often keeps you away from home, it is possible you won’t be home for Valentine’s Day. For some, that may be fine, but probably not if you have a special someone waiting for you at home. Luckily, there are still plenty of ways to show your sweetheart that you are thinking of them even when you are away. Here are a few ideas to keep your love alive while on the road this Valentine’s Day.

Have Flowers Delivered

As long as you order them plenty of time beforehand, your Valentine can still receive a fresh bouquet of flowers at home or at work. Other delivery services now also include things like fresh fruit arrangements, cookies, stuffed animals, or fun packages full of sweets. Do your research, though, to make sure you get the best deal. Some of these services can get expensive, fast, so check out places like Groupon or download Honey on your browser to get the best deals. Or even better, call a friend and see if they wouldn’t mind delivering something special to your loved one.

Write a Love Letter

Maybe people don’t traditionally write love letters anymore and they definitely don’t send them in the mail anymore. But when you are so far apart from your loved one, a letter may do just the trick to keep them content until your return. Plus, many people will see a love letter as a more meaningful love gesture than something that would have taken less time, like giving them a candy bar.

Go on a Virtual Date

Technology definitely has its advantages, especially when it comes to communicating to someone far away. Whether you choose to Skype or FaceTime, you can plan a date for a romantic conversation. It’s certainly better than nothing! And if you can’t manage the time or get the wifi connection you need, you can always do a traditional phone call to check in and let them know you are thinking about them. If they don’t answer, leave a sweet voicemail they can discover later!

Reschedule Valentine’s Day

Even if you have already done any or all of the suggestions above, rescheduling Valentine’s Day on a day when you are home is a great plan. And it will be completely unexpected and a romantic gesture of love. So make yourself look amazing, pick up a second bouquet of flowers (or chocolates, whatever they like), and take your Valentine out for a nice evening out.

Regardless of how you choose to spend your Valentine’s Day, just make sure you find a way to communicate your love to your loved one on that special day. It doesn’t have to be much—just a  gesture to say you were thinking of them.
