Which Type of Energy Drink is Best For the Road?

Professional truck drivers sometimes have to take late shift or work long hours. Naturally, during this time, it’s all too easy to become tired and worn down from the exhaustive shift. So what do you do to stay awake?

Truck drivers have their own personal method for staying awake. Whether it’s singing at the top of your lungs, rolling down the window for some fresh air, or other funky tactics. However, one thing is common – we all drink some sort of an ‘energy drink’.

So, which type of energy drink is best?

Coffee, Espresso and Tea

Coffee and tea both provide a variety of benefits to truck drivers, including health benefits. With the quick pick-me-up that coffee provides, this seems to be the most popular energy drink of choice.

However, be careful to not over do it with the coffee, tea or even espresso drinks! Too much caffeine can have an adverse affect and cause you to either ‘crash’ in a short amount of time or feel awful after drinking.

If you choose to drink coffee or an espresso drink, be sure to drink these in moderations and with a healthy food to balance it out!

Energy Drinks

Ah, the energy drink. Monster, Red Bull, Rockstar and a plethora of other brands all produce sugary, unhealthy energy drinks that seem to kick in almost immediately after consumption. Although some of these brands even market themselves as healthy product options, they definitely contain ingredients that are far from healthy.

Even though you may feel a fast burst of energy, these drinks also provide you with a dangerous variety of side effects, including:

  • Anxiety
  • The jitters
  • Insomnia
  • Dizziness
  • Headaches
  • And much more

You’re much better off going with the best form of energy drink there is – water!

Water

Your best bet on staying alert and awake on the road is to regularly consume water. Not only does water hydrate your body, it also is a natural energy enhancer! It is in your best interest to choose to drink water each day.

Instead of consuming high amounts of caffeine and experiencing the side effects, consume water all day for the best results.
